The TRAP Of Getting Ready

This is not aimed at anyone specific, but more of a general
observation.

I have the honor of working fairly closely with a few dozen
“serious” entrepreneurs and the single biggest mistake that I see
many of them making is…

Spending Too Much Time “Getting Ready!”

Some of us spend days, weeks, even months… polishing and
tweaking our websites, then doing the same thing with our emails,
etc.

I suspect that the reason for this is the fear of being judged by
how our websites look, and what people will think of our grammar,
etc.

The problem with that is that… often when we finally get around
to “pulling the trigger” someone else has beaten us to the punch!

Far too often, I personally have FINALLY decided to mention a
project that I was taking part in to a close friend, only to have
them tell me that someone else had already told them about it and
gotten them involved.

These friends have also often pointed out that IF I had
approached them about it first, they would have preferred working
with me.

The fact is that a true friend would definitely NOT judge your
work by its look. They MIGHT point out mistakes to you in a
helpful way!

That has happened to me often enough that I COUNT ON friends to
“watch my back.” I also do the same for them.

The fact is that you ARE going to make mistakes… no matter how
carefully you polish, tweak or proofread something.

It’s only after you hit the send button that you notice your
mistakes.

It’s only after you PUBLISH that book, in hardcopy, that you
notice your mistakes.

Yes, I’ve “been there, done that!” I’ve also been reading a
best-seller, learning a lot from it, and noticed mistakes 🙂

So, what’s the point of my rant?

Well, you CAN’T make any sales, or achieve other desired results,
until you put it out there for the public to see.

When a caring, or not so caring person points out your mistakes,
thank them, and appreciate that you just enlisted another
proofreader… for free.

Correct that mistake later, if necessary, learn from it, and
smile as you watch the sales flow in DESPITE your marketing not
being perfect.

FYI, I’ve had several 7-figure earners reach out to me the night
before a launch… asking me to give their website one final
read.

There always are “mistakes” but most aren’t show stoppers.

So, get over your perfectionism… and caring too much about
“what others think!”

Success!
