I started posting videos to YouTube roughly 14 years ago, largely
as a hobby. The channel had no real focus or purpose… just an
outlet for sharing random things….
In the past 4 months or so, I took an interest in growing that
channel, monetizing it, AND using it to drive traffic to other
websites and projects.
Today, as a “YouTube Creator” I received an email with the
subject Line, “The Modern Midas, your 2024 year in review is
here”
The channel is still relatively small…
The email showed that my most viewed video for this YEAR is one
that it actually 13 years old :-). It received 168 watch hours.
That same video has received 364,329 views, 864 Likes, and 240
Comments.
Since people are STILL viewing and commenting on that video, I
decided to give it a boost and keep it going, while also
observing some of the factors that made it take off.

where it’s not uncommon for boats to be tossed around, and even
washed up onto major highways during storms!

While the average monetized YouTube channel earns only a few
hundred dollars per month, I have many friends/acquaintances
earning 10k+ per month, and a few doing over $100k per month.
Despite the impression that some YouTubers give you, it’s NOT
that easy. MOST of the 114 Active YouTube Channels make no
money!
