Many of us online marketers, especially affiliate marketers, often find ourselves wanting to promote more than one product during the same time-frame.
Since so many people are discovering that it’s really not that difficult to create products, and are therefore DECIDING to create and launch their own products, there are a LOT of great new products being launched lately.
Old-timers, like me, were taught, and firmly believe that your marketing will be MUCH MORE EFFECTIVE if you focus on and promote just ONE product at a time.
That is… ensure each email (or webpage) has ONE primary purpose, and that purpose is to focus the reader’s attention on taking ONE specific action.
When you focus their attention on too many things, or give them too many choices, that often leads them to not making ANY choice.
That’s why fast food restaurants only offer 2-3 choices on the kids’ meal menu 🙂
As the writer of an email, or webpage, you should have done your homework enough to be the expert… the person who can be trusted to make a well-reasoned recommendation.
YOU should be almost like a doctor, prescribing a very specific solution for a very specific problem.
NOTE that your doctor doesn’t generally give you several options and ask you to choose one!
My doctor DOES discuss treatment options with me incidentally BECAUSE I let him know, in no uncertain terms, that I take personal responsibility for my own health and all decisions affecting it… but I digress 🙂
OK, so you promote just one product or service in a communication…
Then what to do if you sincerely want to tell your audience about several great solutions to several very real problems that they face?
SIMPLE, in your email, you send them to your blog… to a specific blog post recommending a specific product.
When your reader visits your blog, and reads your recommendation, IF that product doesn’t interest them at the current time, then perhaps they will notice a link, off to the side, discussing or promoting a DIFFERENT product.
So, they click on that link in order to learn more, and that gives you an opportunity to promote that second… or third product.
This is a beautiful solution, which often also allows you to do a better job of explaining the benefits of the product and your offer.
In your email, you tell them enough to make them want to learn more, but you DON’T try to sell them, because that would often make an email too long.
Instead, get them to click through to your blog where you can not only explain the offer but also explain any bonuses you offer, use audiovisual to engage more of their senses, etc.
Give this a try 😉
Don’t have a blog, or even a niche that you’re focused on?
