One of the cardinal rules of selling, whether it’s directly from
an email, or by driving traffic to a webpage is to focus your
visitor’s attention on just taking ONE action.
Convention wisdom, and testing, has shown that when you give your
customers more than one thing to do, when it’s not just choosing
between three different options of the same product, they are
very likely to choose NONE.
We say, “A confused mind never buys.”
Yet, it IS tempting to TRY having an email, video or webpage
accomplish more than one purpose.
In this short video, I share how an affiliate marketer CAN do
that and “probably” end up making more total sales.
This video shares my copy from an email where my primary purpose
was to get them to purchase an affiliate product.
The email is also written to teach a lesson by showing an example
of what the BENEFIT of the primary product is.
However, in showing the example, I pointed out that the sample
domain name that I used was for sale, and told them how to buy
that domain name.
Which led to me pointing out that I buy and sell domain names,
and have been doing so since 2009. I continued by pointing out
that I rank and rent websites AND that I teach a course on How To
Rank And Rent Websites.
I go on to point out that my R&R training is temporarily closed
but will be reopening soon, inviting readers to email me if they
want more info on the class.
I also invite readers to email me to discuss the topic of the
affiliate product… and to even possibly set up a free
one-on-one Zoom call.
I point out to them that I actually SELL these consultations and
invite them to visit my site to verify my rates.
Finally, I point out that one way to sell more than one product
in an email is to send traffic to your blog rather than directly
to a sales page.
On the blog, you have a LOT more room to sell the primary
product, expanding on it benefits and any bonuses you offer,
perhaps also using added multi-media support.
Also, using the blog, if the reader is not interested in
purchasing the primary product, perhaps they will see something
else on the blog that interests them… giving you several more
chances to make a sale or gain a subscriber.
As you can see, this email, which I also turned into a video,
offers real value to the reader even if they never purchase
anything from me.. At a minimum, it hopefully gained me a loyal
